BT&C Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Julian Montague. The exhibition will be the first in BT&C Gallery’s new home at 1250 Niagara Street and opens on Thursday, June 5th, with a reception in the gallery as well as outdoor installations and events organized by Sugar City 6pm - 9pm.
Julian Montague is an artist and graphic designer known for his photography, design and installation work. In Ruins presents work that is an extension of Montague’s ongoing project entitled Secondary Occupants, which explores the relationship of insects and animals with architecture and ultimately how their observed behaviors conceptually relate to psychological, human models. Montague’s latest iteration in this project focuses on the spider and through his stunning macro photographic work and subtle works on paper, presents the insect as an elusive presence at once unseen and omnipresent.
Montague has exhibited throughout the Unites States, Canada, and Europe. In 2013 alone, Montague was featured in exhibitions in Buffalo, NY; New York, NY; Wichita, KS; Scottsdale, AZ; Metz, France (solo exhibition); and Berlin, Germany. His work is in the collections of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Burchfield Penney Arts Center, The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, and The Norton Museum of Art. BT&C Gallery will present a solo exhibition of Montague’s latest body of work this coming June.
